Do I need a permit to build a deck in Pennsylvania?
Yes, for most decks. Pennsylvania requires a permit for any deck attached to your home, any deck over 200 sq ft, or any deck more than 30 inches above grade. TrueCraft handles all permitting on your behalf.
What's the difference between composite and wood decking?
Composite requires far less maintenance — no staining, sealing, or sanding — and resists rot, splinters, and insects. Wood costs less upfront but needs regular upkeep. We build both and help you choose what fits your budget and lifestyle.
How long does a deck project take?
Most residential decks take 3–7 days once materials are on-site. Larger builds with pergolas, outdoor kitchens, or multi-levels may take 2–3 weeks. We give you a realistic timeline in your estimate, not a best-case scenario.
How do you price a deck project?
Pricing depends on size, material, site conditions, complexity, and features. We provide a detailed written estimate broken down by scope — no lump sums, no mystery charges. See our Deck Cost Guide for the factors that influence pricing.
